Introduction
Thank you for your interest in taking part in our online discussion groups. Your participation will help us to understand parents’ views on what good childcare looks like and the difference it makes to children and families.
This short registration form will give you a bit more information about the discussion groups, and ask you a few questions about yourself to make sure you are eligible to take part. We will then be in touch with further information if you are selected to take part.
Your responses to this registration form and in the online discussion groups themselves will be kept entirely confidential.
The discussion groups will take place on Wednesday 19th November 2025 and will take place online. Everyone who takes part will receive a £15 shopping voucher.
Who are we?
Coram Family and Childcare works to make the UK a better place for families, focusing on childcare and early years to make a difference to families’ lives now and in the long term. We are part of the Coram group of charities.
For over twenty years, we have published the annual Childcare Survey and Holiday Childcare Survey.
Why are we running discussion groups?
We would like to hear your views on what good childcare looks like, how well your experience matched this and the difference it made to you and your child. We are also interested in hearing about your experiences with the funded early education entitlements, such as 30 hours funded childcare for working parents.
By childcare we mean formal childcare such as nurseries and childminders.
Who should register their interest in the discussion groups?
We are looking to hear from parents who have used childcare in the last 12 months for a child aged 0 to 4.
You can still take part if your child is now 5 as long as they were using a nursery or childminder when they were 4.
How long will the registration form take to complete?
This form should only take 2 or 3 minutes to complete. The discussion groups will be around 45 minutes.
What are the questions about?
The questions will only ask whether you have used childcare in the last 12 months, and some basic personal information (name and contact details) so that we can contact you should be selected for the discussion groups.
How will the discussion groups meet?
The discussion groups will be held online using Microsoft Teams. We will provide you with a link in advance to help you access the meeting. Support will be available before and during the meeting to ensure that it is accessible to you.
How will information from the discussion groups be used?
We will write up our findings and publish them in next year’s Childcare Survey. We will not publish anything that could identify you as a participant in the discussion groups.
How will my data be used and protected?
Your answers will be stored in our secure folder. A full description of our data protection policy for this project can be found here. Please read this before taking part.
