Coram Life Education launches training to support practitioners with new EYFS framework

  • 26 March 2024

As a member of the Coram Family, Coram Life Education have launched new training workshops to support Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) practitioners in understanding and implementing the new EYFS framework and Development Matters.

The Department for Education announced that the EYFS framework is changing from September 2021 with the aim of improving outcomes for children at age five, particularly in early language and literacy. Development Matters is the new non-statutory curriculum guidance for the new EYFS framework.

Coram Life Education’s workshops, taking place throughout June and July, have been specifically designed for EYFS practitioners and use a range of interactive techniques and resources to help them plan, prepare and deliver an effective response to the new EYFS framework and Development Matters.

The workshops will cover:

  • The ethos, aims and implementation of the new EYFS framework, including action planning
  • Key features of effective practice and how to deliver
  • Changes to Development Matters and how to use effectively
  • How Coram Life Education’s online SCARF programme supports in meeting children’s needs
  • Responding to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Refreshing practice and positively embrace the new framework
  • Opportunities to ask questions and share experiences with other EYFS practitioners

The workshops will be facilitated by Ellie Wild-Rees, a specialist in Early Years teaching, with particular expertise in play pedagogy, child development, planning in the moment and staff development. The cost is £25 per person for a 1.5 hour workshop.

Coram Life Education’s SCARF resources are now used by over 50,000 teachers across the UK. The EYFS content of SCARF is flexible to meet the needs of different settings, and supports schools in meeting the PSED and Language & Communication elements of the EYFS framework.
