NAFIS membership benefits

The National Association of Family Information Services (NAFIS) is a national membership organisation meeting the needs of local Family Information Services.  We provide opportunities for members to network, communicate and share learning, a focus for lobbying government, access to key decision makers, a monthly newsletter and much more.

There are many benefits for NAFIS members!

NAFIS was set up in 1992 and is now operated by Coram Family and Childcare. We gather feedback from NAFIS members through surveys, regional meetings, the nationwide steering group, secure email list and a private Facebook group. This information is then shared with other members and civil servants to help improve policy and practice.

Real time communication and best practice sharing with the NAFIS community

With access to the exclusive and private secure email chain, you can directly share questions, resources and strategies with all other NAFIS members across the UK. This peer to peer support has been highly successful in helping members find ways to make their local practice more effective and efficient.

Representation at the highest level

Through the steering group, NAFIS members can influence work and policy at a national level. Your input will inform NAFIS and Coram Family and Childcare’s work with government, making your voice heard by government officials and policy makers.

Regular webinars and questions and answers sessions with experts

NAFIS hosts regular webinars with other organisations and experts in the Early Years sector, senior civil servants, sector thought leaders and decision makers. As a member, you can directly raise your questions, communicate your experiences and share your expertise with key officials from the family services sector without having to leave the office.

Our monthly NAFIS newsletter includes the latest industry news, published research, government announcements and more straight to your inbox, every month.

Annual Conference and Awards

Our annual conference takes place in the autumn, with a packed programme of speakers, workshops and  networking opportunities. It is usually held online and all NAFIS members and their colleagues can attend.

Dedicated support from Coram Family and Childcare staff

Dedicated members of staff from the Coram Family and Childcare team are on hand to support NAFIS members, facilitate sharing of best practice and respond to any queries NAFIS members have. Coram Family and Childcare also provides support to NAFIS members whose FIS is at risk of being reduced, sharing resources, advice and an external voice that champions the work of FISs.

Information on your reach to parents

NAFIS members can request statistics on how often parents are searching for their services on Coram Family and Childcare’s Family Service Information Finder. This information can help Family Information Services better understand how parents contact them and better target their services.
